Geofabrik now hosts its own version of that original &#8220;\u00d6PNVKarte&#8221; (&#8220;\u00d6PNV&#8221; is the German acronym for public transport), and we&#8217;ll be offering it to international customers under the somewhat simpler name &#8220;Public Transport Map&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tools.geofabrik.de\/map\/?type=Public_Transport#15\/48.9942\/8.4021\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-639 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.geofabrik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/oepnvkarte.png\" alt=\"Public Transport Map screenshot\" width=\"822\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.geofabrik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/oepnvkarte.png 822w, https:\/\/blog.geofabrik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/oepnvkarte-300x161.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.geofabrik.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/oepnvkarte-768x411.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 822px) 100vw, 822px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll also approach the OpenStreetMap operations team and recommend this map for inclusion on <a class=\"moz-txt-link-abbreviated\" href=\"http:\/\/www.openstreetmap.org\">www.openstreetmap.org<\/a> which has featured \u00d6PNVKarte for a long time and only recently dropped it due to operational concerns.<\/p>\n<p>This public transport map currently relies on a proprietary database importer written by Melchior Moos, but using the work contributed by our recent Geofabrik intern Max Hoogerdijk, we&#8217;re planning to publish import scripts compatible with osm2pgsql&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/osm2pgsql.org\/themepark\/\">Themepark<\/a> import mechanism under an open source license soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re happy to announce that we now have a nice public transport map, courtesy of Melchior Moos who runs the original \u00f6pnvkarte.de web site.
